- Trey Jacobs adds his name to the record books at Fremont Speedway; Sebetto wins thrilling 305 feature; Miller earns 2nd straight track victory
FREMONT, Ohio - Trey Jacobs added his name to the family win list at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction on Ohio Truck Sales/Autokiniton Night, Saturday, May 11. He joins his father Dean, Uncle Kenny and Cousin Lee to have won sprint car features at "The Track That Action Built." The Wooster, Ohio driver grabbed the early lead in the 30-lap Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprint feature, maintaining the point until a restart on lap nine. Sean Rayhall then took the point but Jacobs fought back and the pair waged an entertaining battle until Jacobs regained the top spot on lap 13. Jacobs began to pull away but a pair of cautions erased over three second leads. Californian Kalib Henry drove into second on lap 16 but could not keep pace with Jacobs despite the pair of cautions. A red with two laps to go set u a shoot-out but Jacobs hit his marks perfectly and drove to the win over Henry, 16th starter Zeth Sabo, Cale Thomas and Rayhall. Thomas' fourth place finish will keep him atop the point standings for the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads-Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by the Baumann Auto Group. "I needed this badly. I feel like I gave one away a hand full of years ago here…led until the last lap. We've come so close and honestly this year has been a complete struggle. Shit breaking…dumb stuff. Finally to get this win here means a ton. I love Fremont Speedway…this race track was bad ass tonight. It had a good top, bottom, good curb," said Jacobs in the Beaverdam Fleet Services Victory Lane. "I was good in open air at the beginning and when I caught those lapped cars I was getting tripped up in the curb and the one yellow after Sean got by was pretty timely. I saw my guys motion for me to try the bottom and I was able to go down there and it was really good. If I didn't make any mistakes and hold the bottom I'd be okay. I have to thank Jerry McClure and Jeff Weinberg for giving us the equipment to run and all our sponsors, Harbaugh Electronics, B&B Drain Service, Holmes Cheese Co., Smithville Manufacturing, Vib-Iso, Burgett Insurance, Brent Coffman Trucking, DJ's Aircraft Maintenance, Dac Vitamins and Minerals…everyone who has helped out…it's a real family operation here," added Jacobs. The Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprint feature had fans on the edge of their seats. Zack Kramer led the opening lap but Seth Schneider charged into the lead on the second circuit only to surrender the point to Jamie Miller on lap six. Miller built up a second and half lead while Bryan Sebetto charged into second. A caution with seven laps to go put Sebetto on Miller's rear bumper and the pair didn't disappoint with Miller driving on the bottom and Sebetto ripping the cushion. The pair nearly touched battling for the lead several times with Sebetto finally getting by on lap 21. Miller fought back and regained the lead with just two laps to go. Racing into lapped traffic on the final lap, Sebetto and Miller split a lapped car making contact exiting turn four the drag race was on with Sebetto edging Miller by .058 seconds for his 26th career Fremont victory. Dustin Stroup, DJ Foos and Schneider rounded out the top five. Miller added to his lead in the points for the NAPA of Bryan AFCS presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales with his runner-up finish. "Hats off to Jamie. He raced me hard but ran me clean. He left me room when I was coming off the top of turn four. It's things like that you remember. Some of these young kids don't understand that when you race someone with respect it comes around. Jamie raced me with respect and I have nothing but respect for what he's done and what that team has accomplished," said Sebetto beside his Sandusky Bay Remodeling, JLH General Contractor, Sandusky Bay RV Rentals, KH Suspension, Overwatch Prescition, Commercial Glazing Systems, NAPA of Fremont, Clay Keim, Depot Pizza, CA Kustoms backed #01. "We worked really, really hard this off-season with these cars. It's a brand new race car, one of Bubba Riehl's RCF Chassis that me Jamie (Miller) and Bubba's brother (Logan Riehl) are the only ones on them to best of my knowledge. Level built us a new motor over the winter.Kevin Schlachter has spent so much time and money on this race team for Seth (Schneider) and me to win," added Sebetto. Miller grabbed the lead on lap three and withstood several challenges from Keith Sorg before driving away to his second straight Burmeister Trophy Dirt Truck feature win at Fremont. Miller, aboard the Ron Miller Race Cars, Fostoria Mod Shop backed #4M, earned his 47th career Fremont victory, placing him ninth on the track's all-time win list. "This thing just rolled the bottom so nice I just had to make sure I didn't mess up," said Miller. Fremont Speedway presented by Gill Construction will be back in action Saturday, May 18 on Truck Worx of Ohio Night. The Great Lakes Super Sprints will battle the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints while the stock cars will square off against the Burmeister Trophy Dirt Trucks. - Mintz gets late race pass for 410 Attica win; Schlenk, Markham split late model victories; Miller comes to life for 305 win
ATTICA, Ohio - Craig Mintz was able to maneuver his car anywhere he wanted on a fast Attica Raceway Park Friday, May 10 and it paid off for his 17th career 410 sprint car victory at "Ohio's Finest Racing" venue on Edward Jones Investments-Mike Neill financial advisor/American Powersports Night. The Gibsonburg, Ohio driver - a former Attica 410 sprint track champion - executed a perfect slider on race-long leader Greg Wilson to take the lead on lap 26 of the 30-lap Callie's Performance Products 410 Sprint feature and drove to the $4,000 win over Wilson, Cap Henry, Zeth Sabo and DJ Foos. Henry's third place run helps him close the gap in the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads-Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by the Baumann Auto Group points as he looks to defending his series' title. "When the tires actually cooled down we got faster. We were really good for about three laps there. Three and four was just kind of hold your own at the top and if you could gain ground in one and two…which this race car could…that helped you get runs down the back stretch to do those sliders. Hats off to these guys, Chris, Rich, my dad, my wife and kids. We do this part time and we like to have fun," said Mintz beside his Real Geese Decoys, Modern Woodman of America, Seagate Sandblasting, Brown Family Construction, Linder's Speed Equipment, Bettsville Legion, DMI Racing, Keizer Wheels backed #09. The Whistle Stop Presents the Dirt Nerds Podcast Powered by Propane UMP Late Models had a busy night at Attica Raceway Park. First a 25 lap make-up feature from last week was held that produced a bizarre and exciting finish. Rusty Schlenk led the first 20 laps but a radiator hose let go and put water down and second place challenger JR Gentry spun. Schlenk went pit side and Ashland, Ohio's Ryan Markham who had also been challenging up front, took the lead and held off a late race challenge from Kyle Moore and Jeff Babcock for his 24th career Attica win worth $3,000. "I knew my car was pretty good and we were right there on them. Sometimes you have to take what you can get," said Markham of his B&B Drain Service, Beer Barrel Drive Thru, After Burner Performance, Chuys Tacos & Margaritas, Monster Motors, Last Mango Soap Company, Backin the Barn, Boutique, Ocala Restaurant Supply, Mar Trucking, Schaeffers Racing Oil by Kevin Hill, TGR Performance sponsored #5M. In the night's regular late model feature Schlenk took the lead from Gentry on lap 14 and held off a late race charge from Moore who had spun on the opening lap and came from the tail. Gentry, Gregg Haskell and Devin Shiels rounded out the top five. It was Schlenk's 40th career win in the late models at Attica. "We have a cooling problem obviously. We blew a radiator hose in the first feature. I was trying to baby it and I was trying to run around there half-throttle but Gentry was there and I over-heated it and blew the hose. That was a $3,000 loss for an $18 part. I was watching the board and I knew Kyle Moore was coming….he's been very good competition. We were running hot again so I wasn't trying to push it," said Schlenk beside his Buckeye Concrete Coatings, Terry Hendricks Auto Group, Velocita USA, Dominator Race Products, Tom Finch Auto, Domination Race Cars, All Star Performance backed #91. The Fremont Fence 305 Sprints also put on a fantastic feature event. Dustin Stroup grabbed the lead at the drop of the green and held the point for nine laps before John Ivy took over. Ivy continued to slice through traffic, leading until lap 20 when defending track champion Jamie Miller came to life. Miller had to fend off Ivy, then Paul Weaver and finally Bryan Sebetto to get his second win of the year at Attica and the 41st 305 win of his career at the track. Sebetto, Weaver, Ivy and Stroup rounded out the top five. "We were way to tight early but as the race went on and the fuel load burned off this car took off," said Miller beside his Boca Construction, JLH General Contractors, Kenny Kolb Farms, Tuck Pointing America, Queen of Clean, Smitty's Pizza, Roberts & Sons Contracting, Pizza Wheel, Crown Battery, Reedtown Tavern, Fostoria Mod Shop, Sandy's Dad, Gressman Powersports, Phil Rister, Slade Shock Technology backed #26. - Henry rebounds with AFCS Fremont victory; Ivy earns 62nd Fremont win in 305s
FREMONT, Ohio - It's said in racing in order to succeed you need to have a short memory. Have a bad night? Put it behind you and move to the next race. That held very true for Cap Henry Saturday, April 27 at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction. Henry, who claimed the Fremont Speedway 410 sprint crown, the Attica Fremont Championship Series title and the Attica Raceway Park title in 2023, missed the feature Friday at Attica. He put it behind him on Level Performance/Gressman Powersports Night at Fremont, leading all 30 laps of the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprint A-main to score the $4,000 payday. Henry had to survive a late race caution to earn his 19th career victory at "The Track That Action Built." He held off a charging Travis Philo, DJ Foos, last week's winner Cale Thomas and Friday night's Attica winner Skylar Gee to visit the Beaverdam Fleet Services Victory Lane. "I never doubted Zack (Myers) and my guys. We've either been really fast or we shouldn't be at the race track. It's either we win it or don't show up. Zack went through this thing front to back today. He never gives up. We really got lucky there at the end with the cautions. I had ripped off all the tear-offs that thing by like lap 10 and I was just hanging on," said Henry of his Jeff Ward Demolition, Premier Planning Services, Ohio Logistics, Primal Tee Shop, Elliott's Custom Trailers and Carts, FK Rod Ends, Griff's Engines backed #33W. Thomas' fourth place run will keep him atop the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by the Baumann Auto Group standings. The Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprint feature came down to the last lap. A caution necessitated a green-white-checkered finish and in the final corners on the last lap leader John Ivy and Friday night's Attica winner Tyler Shullick raced side by side and banged wheels. Ivy held off Shullick for his 62nd career Fremont victory. Shullick, Jamie Miller, Bryan Sebetto and Seth Schneider rounded out the top five. Ivy, who is now tied for fourth on Fremont's all-time win list with Gug Keegan, put himself in contention for the title of the NAPA of Bryan AFCS presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales. "I saw Tyler stick his nose down there and I thought well I have to try something. I knew Tyler wouldn't take me out…he's a good racer and he will win his fair share. I just have to get as many as I can now…I'm not getting any younger," said Ivy beside his C&N Construction Supplies, Atkinson Farm, Pub 400, Fox Painting, Sonny's Machine & Welding, Kistler Racing Products, Level Performance, Rohr Total Lawn Care, Level Performance, Level Utilities, SC Atkinson Farms, MRE of Ohio, Welty Financial Services, Dave Story Equipment & Repair, Napa of Bryan, Minich Installations, Meade Motorcars backed #49i Heavy rains struck the speedway just prior to the planned drivers' meeting which caused an over three hour delay in getting the racing surface in shape. Because of the lateness, Fremont Speedway Promoter Rich Farm approached the Burmeister Trophy Dirt Truck teams about cancelling their portion of the night's program in exchange for doubling their purse - from first in the A-feature to last in the B-feature - for next week and the majority of the teams were in agreement. Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction will be back in action on Family Fun Night, Saturday, May 4 with the dirt trucks, 305 sprints and the USAC D2 Midgets in action. - Henry moves on to race win at Speedway
Henry, who claimed the Fremont Speedway 410 sprint crown, the Attica Fremont Championship Series title and the Attica Raceway Park title last year, survived a late-race caution to earn his 19th career ...
- Henry rebounds with AFCS Fremont victory
It’s said in racing in order to succeed you need to have a short memory. Have a bad night? Put it behind you and move to the next race. That held very true for Cap Henry Saturday, April 27 at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction.
- Cale Thomas finally exercises demons to take Fremont Speedway win; Jamie Miller takes 305 and truck victories
FREMONT, Ohio - Cale Thomas could have had two wins in the 2024 racing season but mechanical woes cost him. The Fairland, Indiana driver finally had a race day go his way, claiming the 410 sprint feature win to open the season at Fremont Speedway presented by Gill Construction Saturday, April 20 on Fort Ball Pizza Palace Night. Thomas, aboard the Jay Kiser Racing #23, took the lead from Larry Kingseed on lap three of the 30-lap Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprint A-main, was patient in lapped traffic and drove to his second career win at "The Track That Action Built." Defending Fremont Speedway champion Cap Henry, Zeth Sabo, Craig Mintz and Zane DeVault rounded out the top five. The win also makes Thomas a clear threat to dethrone Cap Henry in the hunt for the title of the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads-Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by the Baumann Auto Group as the series begins its sixth season. "I didn't know how close Cap was but I felt like I was doing what I was supposed to do in getting through lapped traffic the way I did. When you have a guy like Cap Henry behind you he will pounce on any little mistake you make so I'm always thinking is this a good corner…should I be doing this…do I need to change this. I just kept doing my fundamentals and staying after it. This could have been our third win this year….we definitely needed this," said Thomas in the Beaverdam Fleet Services Victory Lane beside his Spanky's Pizza, Shelluke's Bar & Grill, Automatic Fire Protection, Ohio Refrigeration, Engler Machine, BH 41, TMH Holdings, Berryman Racing Shocks, Keizer Wheels backed machine. Jamie Miller usually doesn't like slick race tracks. But, after waging a terrific battle the last two thirds of the 25-lap Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprint feature with Tyler Shullick, Miller took the lead for good on lap 21 and drove to his 45th career victory at Fremont. Zack Kramer led the first six laps before fourth starter Miller took over. Tyler Shullick worked the low line to grab the lead with 10 laps to go, but Miller was patient and charged back to the point on lap 21 and drove to the win. Shullick, Kramer, Paul Weaver and Dustin Stroup would round out the top five. With the win, Miller, who also picked up a win at Attica Raceway Park this season, looks to stop Weaver from recording a sixth straight title with the NAPA of Bryan AFCS presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales. "This definitely isn't my cup of tea as far as track conditions but we were pretty good tonight…I'll take it. The car was just getting better and better and then we got into traffic and it never really changed. I was good in dirty air, clean air so I was just kind of biding my time and he (Shullick) was getting hung up and I got back there and held her for all she was worth to try and park it up here," said Miller of his Boca Construction, JLH General Contractors, Kenny Kolb Farms, Tuck Pointing America, Queen of Clean, Smitty's Pizza, Roberts & Sons Contracting, Pizza Wheel, Crown Battery, Reedtown Tavern, Fostoria Mod Shop, Sandy's Dad, Gressman Powersports, Phil Rister, Slade Shock Technology backed #26. Not content with just one feature win for the night, Miller proceeded to take the lead on lap eight of the 20-lap Burmeister Trophy Dirt Truck feature and drive to his 46th career feature win at Fremont Speedway. David Gumby led the first seven laps of the caution-filled feature before sixth starter Miller drove under for the lead. Miller, who now sits ninth on the track's all-time win list, survived several late race cautions for the victory over Keith Sorg, Dustin Keegan, Kent Brewer and Kevin Phillips. "I tried the top and the truck didn't like it so I slowed down and rolled the infield tires and got ahold of something," said Miller beside his Fostoria Mod Shop, Ron Miller Race Cars backed #4M. - Cap Henry rebounds with Attica Spring Nationals win; Jimmy McGrath earns 1st career 305 victory
ATTICA, Ohio - After crash on opening night at Attica Raceway Park a couple of weeks ago, defending track champion Cap Henry of Republic, Ohio, rebounded with a dominating performance Saturday, April 13 to take the $6,000 top prize of the Core & Main Spring Nationals presented by Erie Blacktop and Smith Paving. Henry, aboard the Jeff Ward Motorsports #33W, led all 30 laps of the Callie's Performance Products 410 Sprint A-main though he was challenged early by Cale Thomas and held off a charging Emerson Axsom late for his 17th career Attica division win, placing him seventh on the all-time 410 win list at the track. Axsom drove from ninth to a second place finish with Greg Wilson, Trey Jacobs and Zane DeVault rounding out the top five on the challenging track that took over four inches of rain the two days prior to the event. "I'll be honest, it was all I had to hang onto that thing. I needed those red flags and cautions. The car was really good…I'd say I was about 50 percent. I knew we had to get going and I was trying to pick my pace and maintain for a long time. Cale (Thomas) showed me his nose wing once and got by me in traffic and luckily the caution came out and we got it back. This goes to these guys over here (his crew). I tore this thing up a couple of weeks ago and they put it back together and never gave up," said Henry beside his Premier Planning Services, Jeff Ward Demolition, Ohio Logistics, Primal Tee Shop, Elliott's Custom Trailers and Carts, FK Rod Ends, Griff's Engines backed machine. Jimmy McGrath of Clyde, Ohio, has finished led a lot of 305 sprint features and finished second a lot. He finally got the monkey off his back Saturday at Attica, leading all 25 laps of the Fremont Fence feature to claim his first ever sprint car win. It wasn't easy for McGrath as many cautions and red flags caused several restarts with one caution actually handing him back the lead after Jamie Miller had just passed him. Steve Rando, Brandon Moore, Tyler Shullick and John Ivy would round out the top five. "This feels good…it doesn't seem real. I wasn't thinking about a lot. I just drove it as hard as I could right through the middle and hoped it stuck and stayed on all fours," said McGrath beside his Awesome Racewear, Wood Wizard, Level Utilities, Level Performance, JP Builders, BSE Fab. WDLC Sheds, Sulfer Town Pub, D2 Excavating backed #5jr. Attica Raceway Park will be back in action Friday, April 19 on Baumann Auto Group/7L Construction/Venture Visionary Partners Night. The All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by the Baumann Auto Group will kick off its season for the 410 sprints as will the NAPA of Bryan AFCS presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales for the 305 sprints.
