- AFTER A WEEK OFF, BRADEN CHIARAMONTE HEADS TO NORTHERN CALIFORNIA FOR TWO RACES THIS WEEK
(El Cajon, CA, May 8) After spending last weekend watching his older sibling Bronsen win the Weedle Industries Perfect 10 Challenge Desert Race in Johnson City, California, Braden Chiaramonte will strap into the Tiner/Hirst #94TH sprint car for two races this weekend. The rising open-wheel star will be at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico on Friday. Twenty-four hours later and 130 miles to the south, he will be at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday. On Saturday's trip, Chiarmonte will appear on the two famous Nor Cal ovals for the first time in 2024. In the past, he has made four appearances at Silver Dollar. All four were in a winged 360 and his best result came at the 2022 Fall Nationals when he placed 10th in the A main event. Likewise, he has made four appearances at Placerville. Three of those came in 2023. Two of the four were in the same Placerville 360 Winged Sprints that he will be competing with on Saturday. He also has an appearance there with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour and one came with the USAC National Midgets at the end of 2023. His best finish on the red clay came last August 5th when he placed 12th in the track 360s. Between the winged 360, non-wing 410 and his outlaw micro, Chiaramonte has been at nine races this season. He has started nine he has started eight of the main events. He has two wins, three top-five finishes, and five top-10s. The victories came at a combined 360/410 sprint car show at Imperial Valley Raceway on March 9th and an Outlaw Micro race at Arizona's Adobe Mountain Speedway on March 30th. The only main he did not start came on March 16th at the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Series main at Perris Auto Speedway when a violent heat race crash ended his night early. This weekend's races will be Chiaramonte's third and fourth starts for Tiner/Hirst in 2024. His first appearance of the year in the Slade Precision Shocks/Larry Davis Farms/System 1 Pro Ignition #94TH came at the Stockton Dirt Track on April 6th. Running 10th in the main early on, two cars got together directly in front of the young racing star. Chiaramonte slid sideways to avoid them and ended up getting his right-side Nerf Bar bent into his right rear tire. A quick stop in the pit area saw the crew slap on a new right rear and send him back to the battlefield. He started at the rear and drove forward to a 14th-place when the race ended. His other appearance for Tiner/Hirst came three weeks ago at Merced. After an impressive heat race win and second-place finish in the dash, Chiaramonte was running second in the main event when he slid off the top of turn two. Like at Stockton, that forced him to restart at the back and he impressively drove up to 15th before the checkered flag ended the race. For fans who wish to see Chiaramonte race at Silver Dollar Speedway, this Friday is Fan Appreciation Night. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Tickets for those 19 and over are $15.00. Admission is free for everyone 18 and younger. Advance tickets are available at https://silverdollar.ticketspice.com/may-10th-racing-2024. The track is located at 2357 Fair Street in Chico (95928). Tickets for those 19 and older are $15.00 on Saturday, The track website is and the office phone is 530-966-4030. At Placerville's Mother's Day Madness on Saturday, the gates will open at 3:00 p.m. Happy hour will be from 3:00 to 6:00. Cars will be on the track for hot laps at 5:15. Adult tickets are $18.00. - NARC RESCHEDULES TULARE'S CHRIS & BRIAN FARIA RACE FOR OCTOBER 12TH
(May 5, 2024 - Jim Allen) Tulare, CA ... Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway promoter Steve Faria and the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series worked out a plan to reschedule the rained-out May 4th Chris & Brian Faria Memorial. The race will be moved to Saturday, October 12th as a bolt-on addition to an existing program that features the Sprint Car Challenge Tour 360's. "I don't want to miss out on any NARC 410 dates at my track," explained Faria, "especially the Chris and Brian Faria race. By combining it with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour date in October, we will be giving the fans a great night of sprint car racing." Bad weather has played havoc on the NARC campaign this season, cancelling, postponing, or rescheduling five of the seven races to date. The next event on the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series agenda is the May 11th Contra Costa County Clash at Antioch Speedway. NARC does run at Tulare again on May 18th, followed by a rescheduled Sunday twilight show at the Stockton Dirt Track on May 19th. Updated schedules can be found at http://NARC410.com/schedule
- NARC NEWSLINE - MAY 4, 2024
NARC NEWSLINE - May 4, 2024, By Jim Allen … I'm sure we all agree when I say it's been a rough start to the 2024 season. Not just with the NARC schedule, but with just about every dirt track north of the grapevine in California. Mother Nature came bouncing out of her corner like a heavyweight champ with something to prove and pummeled motorsports into submission with wet weather. If the current trend continues, on a prorated basis, NARC would feature a whopping eight races in 2024. The worse thing about it is the weather has typically been perfect all week long, getting everybody excited, before bad weather rolls in on Friday and Saturdays. And not to leave the rest of the country out of the loop, the Outlaws and High Limit also know how to quickly find their rain gear. Because of the choppiness of the schedule, few in open wheel racing have been able to establish any real kind of "weekly" routine, making the natives restless and much of social media poison with the alleged expert opinions of the week. One driver and team that does have their act together this season is Cole Macedo and the Tarlton Motorsports team. Two-fer-two! They survived the unpredictable Battle Royale at Chico and mastered the newly remodeled Stockton Dirt Track before anybody else could. The Tarlton-team, with Drew Werner on the wrenches, is looking for their first NARC title since 2016. By the way, both NARC races had a "Road House" feel to them as only 10 of 24 starters finished at Chico, and 13 at Stockton. Silver Dollar Speedway was described as 1990's "old-school" rough, leaving aspiring drivers born in this century to struggle and figure it out. As luck would have it, Floracing capitalized on the Chico carnage for its ever-popular weekly crash highlight video … just from that one show. Man, that's an ego killer! But like clockwork, history always repeats itself. There's always a couple of events each year that look absolutely perfect on paper and then have you yelling at the steering wheel on the way home. The good news, those two are now behind us (fingers-crossed.) So with that, the NARC schedule has endured the the cancelation of the Dave Helm Memorial (3/9) and Peter Murphy Classic (4/13) in Hanford, the March Madness event at Merced (3/23), a postponement of the April 27th race at Stockton, and the postponement (yes, postponement) of today's Tulare's Chris & Brian Faria Memorial. So if you are keeping score, it's Mother Nature - 5, Cole Macedo and NARC - 2. Speaking of Stockton, everybody got their first glimpse on April 6th when the former 4/10's mile oval transitioned into a quarter-mile D-shaped bullring. As expected, the opinions were brutal despite the fact that it took a mad scramble to make the race happen in the first place. It also rained for two straight days leading up to the race and that didn't help the cause. It took a while to get the "new" Dirt Track raceable and the NARC heats didn't push off until 8:00 p.m. and the main at 11:13 p.m. (Our goal is to be done by 9:30 p.m.) Also in the pits was SCCT and they had their issues as well, including a longer than normal main event. When you added it all up, the NARC feature was called 27-laps complete at the stroke of midnight. For all of the conspiracy addicts out there, the drivers were informed by radio during the previous caution period that the scheduled 30-lapper was going to be considered complete at midnight no matter what happened. It "happened" with a multi-car crash and wasn't the way anybody wanted to end a chilly night. As Colt's Hall of Fame football coach Tony Dungy says in his book, "nothing good happens after midnight." Especially in Stockton! When all was said and done, the overall opinion of drivers and teams leaned more positive than negative and suggested improvements to make it even better. That's great news as promoter Tony Noceti is committed to the further evolution and improvement of the facility. After the show, he committed to building wider turns with more banking and a backstretch wall from turn two to four. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a ton of work and the weather didn't cooperate (try to act surprised) to allow those upgrades to be completed before our scheduled April 27th race. This postponed the event to a highly-anticipated Sunday Twilight Show on May 19th, the day after the NARC sprint cars invade Thunderbowl Raceway. (Twilight = Qualifying at 4:00 p.m.) That beats the tarnation out of another cancellation. We really need fans and teams to support this show as it could start a new trend and give race promoters another viable option. Other observers thought the Stockton postponement was the perfect opportunity for Peter Murphy to maneuver his April 13th rainout, better known as the Peter Murphy Classic, back into the schedule. However, Murphy already had a weekly show booked on that date. A few racing peeps wanted NARC to invade Kings Speedway which wasn't going to happen because the Central California locals barely have enough opportunities to race already. Not to mention, the PMC, an event filled with auctions, pageantry, and a pole shuffle, features a $50,000+ purse and needs avid fan support to support that obligation. When you figure in liability insurance, water, lights, marketing, track prep, security, garbage, officials and the like, the total expenses are closer to $70,000. And I'm being conservative. While many open wheel loyalists would attend a 7:00 a.m. Christmas morning sprint car show on short notice, the average fan which makes up 65% of any crowd would be home unwrapping gifts. In hindsight, the April 27th Kings crowd was average at best meaning a high-dollar PMC would have been a financial blood bath. It was the right call. With that being said, there is no official date for rescheduling the 10th anniversary of the PMC. Murphy has run the gauntlet to squeeze it in somewhere, but others barked back about conflicts. It appears that California promoters are battling for the same 1500 core fans. Let's hope we can figure this thing out. CALISTOGA SPEEDWAY: Some fans may have had unrealistic expectations that a race schedule would be released soon after the City of Calistoga and Napa County worked out their differences and finalized the sale of the fairgrounds. In reality that was just the starting point and best-case scenario, nobody will see a schedule until 2025. Tommy Hunt said way back in February that it would take his HMC Promotions team about six-months to promote and orchestrate the activities that surround the awesome two-day Louie Vermeil Classic weekend. Once racing is officially on the agenda, expectations will be at a Mount Everest-level as local politicians have the place under a microscope to make sure they made the right choice. That means an infield pit area packed with sprint cars, an overflowing grandstand, a Gold Cup type of feel, and race fans spending their money downtown. Otherwise, all of the pot-banging we did to get the historic half-mile reopened would have been for naught. All those who agree, say YAH! By the way, Tommy Hunt is undergoing serious health issues these days, and we wish him a speedy recovery. NARC NOTES: There are about 15 laps remaining to be sponsored for the June 1st Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial race in Placerville. Contact Karen Bradway-Tuccelli on Facebook if you are interested in sponsoring a lap in the 40-lap feature or 12-lap semi. … An entire nation gasped (on Floracing) when Ryan Robinson clipped the tractor tire coming out of turn two and flipped violently while leading at Silver Dollar Speedway at the Mini-Gold Cup NARC opener. While everybody, including wife Kylie, was attempting to comprehend what had just happened, Ryan had already managed to climb out of the Antaya Motorsports #16A and was stepping slowly to the pit area. His movements were purely instinctual as his eyes saw nothing but black after suffering his fifth racing-related concussion. Luckily, the safety crews caught up with him shortly thereafter. Ryan made an announcement a couple of days later that he is retiring from racing. You know it was a tough decision, but it was the right one. He knows that you can only scramble the eggs so many times. Never forget that this is a dangerous sport. … Willie Croft will be battling for the Skagit Speedway championship in Washington this year with "Rudeen" backing on his number 29 sprint car. He will be attempting to dethrone the defending champ, Trey Starks. … … Only six drivers have finished in the top ten in both races. Can you name them? How about … obviously Cole Macedo … Tanner Carrick, Bud Kaeding, Nick Parker, and rookies Gauge Garcia and Cadeen Steele. Carrick may be the most underrated driver in California with a sixth and third place finish in NARC competition, as well as two Ocean 360 wins to his credit. He is overdue to post his first NARC career victory. … Dominic Scelzi is back in California. He was planning to miss the first six NARC shows of the season while he was chasing races around the Midwest with the Outlaws and High Limit. As it turns out, he only missed two. He will be a "wild card" the rest of the season, attempting to steal victories as others chase the championship. … All, like in every single one of our events are on Floracing.com … David Castenada reports that work is underway at Santa Maria Speedway. After sitting dormant for a couple of years, the track needs serious love to make it race ready. Tony Pombo, who signed a lease-agreement for the place, is actively involved in the process. NARC invades Santa Maria on July 27th - right about the time temperatures hit 110 degrees in the Central Valley. … Justyn Cox cracked three ribs at the Chico opener. You know it was bad when he couldn't golf! ... … The new NARC 65th Anniversary Coloring Book is hot off the press. Thank you to Creative Finishes Plus and Andy & Candace Forsberg for sponsoring this project. Also, thanks to my wife Carol who did all of the artwork. We will pass them out to kids at upcoming events. … Which reminds me of a quick story from the last time we had a NARC coloring book in 2019. While handing them out to excited kids in Tulare, one impatient attractive woman (40ish) insisted on getting one for herself. I politely told her it's kids first, since we need to keep them engaged so their parents continue to bring them to the races. I said if there are any left, I would hook her up. A minute or two later, she impatiently works her way back in line and offers to flip up her shirt and show me the goods if I give her one. Excuse me, did I hear that right? Now I'm not going to say what actually happened at that point, but she walked away with crayons also. … THE ROAD TO THE DIRT CUP: It's hard to believe the Fastest Five Days in Motorsports are only about 40-days away. Based on phone calls, emails, and DM, there is going to be a large contingent of fans making this stellar road trip. It's going to be a parade going up Interstate 5. If you haven't locked down your tickets yet, each track's website is ready to serve them up. By the way, the five FFDM shows pay $5,000 to win and $600 to start the A. The Northwest Focus Midgets will be the support division for the first four events. They put on a great show. From the FFDM Father's Day finale at Grays Harbor Raceway, we continue North to the Jim Raper Memorial Super Dirt Cup. That group is busy putting together fan engagement activities for this showcase event. I'm spearheading the Super Dirt Cup Charity Golf Tournament on Wednesday, June 19th - the day BEFORE the three-days of racing kicks off. We are looking to accomplish two things … build on the "Club" in Northern Auto Racing Club by having an enjoyable day at the nearby Avalon Golf Links. And two, raise money for the NARC Benevolent Fund and the Rayce Rudeen Foundation. Please join us, no matter what your skill level. Off the record, this may become more of a drinking event than a birdie event. (#justsaying) Sign-ups are only $100 and that include golf, cart, box lunch, gift bag and a chance to claim a bunch of prizes and awards. Here is the only caveat: You have to sign-up and pay before June 5th. … We are also looking for hole sponsors. Call me! … Who is your pick to walk away with a $62,000 payday at this year's Super Dirt Cup? And the hot news of the moment ... We have rescheduled the Chris & Brian Faria Memorial for October 12th at Tulare, which is the weekend before the Trophy Cup. It is now part of a great show that also includes the Sprint Car Challenge Tour. It's shaping up to be a terrific October. With that, prepare to get busy because there are 13 NARC shows scheduled in the next 50 or so days. It's going to flash by in the blink of an eye so get your travel plans dialed in. Coming to you live from Auburn, CA! May the Fourth be with you. See ya!
- CRASH KNOCKS BRADEN CHIARAMONTE OUT OF USAC/CRA RACE AT PERRIS
(El Cajon, CA, May 1) Driving a brand new car, Braden Chiaramonte was working his way towards the front in the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA 30-lap main event last Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway. However, a tangle that involved some lapped cars gathered him in and knocked him out of the race with nine laps to go. Sadly, what could have been a top-five finish ended up being a 20th. After a practice session at the track the week before, Chiaramonte was debuting his new DRC Chassis along with a 410 engine obtained from Arizona native Sterling Cling who now does most of his racing in the Midwest. Of the 22 cars on hand on Saturday, Chiaramonte ended up 13th fastest in qualifying with a time of 17.031. That was his second-fastest lap in 2024 at the famous Riverside County half-mile clay oval. It was only surpassed by his 16.995 on March 16th. Chiaramonte, in his pretty #73B, started on the outside of the front row in the first 10 lap heat race. When the checkers ended the preliminary, he ended up fourth. That Kept him in contention for one of the invert spots to start in the first three rows of the main event. Unfortunately, after the second and third heat races, he was out of the invert and was forced to start the 30-lapper in 13th. In the main, like always, Chiaramonte was moving forward. He was picking off cars and confidently made his way into the top 10. At the halfway point, the talented young driver was up to eighth and seemed headed for the top five. However, coming off turn four on the 22nd circuit, he got caught up in someone else's mess and was done for the night with a 20th place finish. Despite other racing duties that saw the El Cajon, California resident miss the two USAC/CRA races in Arizona, Chiaramonte is still 21st in the championship standings and he is third in the Rookie of the Year chase. Chiaramonte is taking this weekend off to watch his older brother Bronsen race in the "Weedle Industries Perfect 10 Challenge" desert race in Johnson City, California. Next weekend he will be back in action in his winged 360 sprint car at a pair of races on two of the crown jewel tracks in Northern California. On Friday the 10th, he will be at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. Twenty-four hours later and 120 miles south, he will compete on the banked, 58-year-old Placerville Speedway. Chiaramonte would like to thank all his sponsors who have made his racing efforts possible. RTL Traffic Control, AM Ortega, OCC Motorsports, Hyper Racing, Chop Design, Adams Motors, Hacienda Casa Blanca Fine Mexican Dining, Evil Plus Injection, King Racing Products, Tyner, and Keizer Wheels. - TULARE'S CHRIS & BRIAN FARIA MEMORIAL NEXT FOR NARC 410 SPRINT CAR SERIES
(4/29/24 - Ben Deatherage) Tulare, California ...The 900+ horsepower fire-breathing cars and stars of the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series are thrilled to return to Thunderbowl Raceway on Saturday, May 4th, for the Chris & Brian Faria Memorial! The 1/3-mile clay oval action track in Tulare is renowned for its breathtaking action, lightning-quick speed, and edge-of-your-seat racing. "We're really excited to get back to Tulare," said Chico's Nick Parker, who is off to a hot start and enters the weekend fifth in the championship standings. "It's a track we've been okay at and struggled at sometimes, but I'm feeling really confident from some of our recent runs and that we continue to build off of our good finishes." The Faria Memorial marks the third round of the 65th Anniversary season for the Northern Auto Racing Club. It is the third different venue the popular series has visited in 2024. The schedule has also endured three rain-outs. The race is run in memory of two members of the storied Faria family. Chris unfortunately passed away in a farming accident in 1993, and Brian was tragically killed in an automobile crash in early 2006. This will be the first time since 2021 that NARC has been a part of the Faria Memorial. The companion division for the evening is the Kings of Thunder 360 Sprints. Championship Chase Despite still being in the early stages of the quest to become the King of the West, this Saturday kicks off a busy portion of the calendar as it will significantly indicate who will become the frontrunners for the prestigious championship title. It kicks off the meat of the schedule with 16-races in the next 11-weeks. Cole Macedo will lead the points table entering the Faria Memorial and is batting one-hundred-percent in the win column with NARC by taking care of business at both the Mini Gold Cup and the Asparagus Cup. After spending the last few weeks in the Midwest, the Lemoore racer, in the Tarlton Motorsports #21, recently posted an impressive fifth-place result at West Memphis, Arkansas' Riverside International Speedway on April 23rd with the High Limit Series and was fourth against the World of Outlaws on April 29th at Paducah International Raceway in Kentucky. Tanner Carrick, from Lincoln, is the current runner-up in the championship race and trails Macedo by a mere twelve markers. Carrick has posted two Top 10 results in two NARC feature starts and was on the podium with a third-place finish at the new Stockton Dirt Track back in April. Caeden Steele is the pacesetter in the Class of 2024 rookie race as he sits third in the standings. The Easton driver wowed the crowd at Chico when he was third at the drop of the checkered and is a star on the rise in the Golden State. 2017 champion Bud Kaeding is currently fourth in points and has yet to finish outside of the Top 10 with the series, including a season-best fifth at the Mini Gold Cup. The Campbell chauffeur has managed to score three victories at Tulare over the years when NARC has come to town, with his most recent trip to Thunderbowl victory lane on April 21st, 2018, during the Spring Nationals. Parker, originally from Tucson, Arizona, has shown moments of brilliance with NARC this year. The 2023 Rookie of the Year scored his first career NARC Top 5 at the Asparagus Cup. After finishing fifth at Stockton, the team is hungry to build on their April performance. Who to Watch Justin Sanders hopes to return to his winning ways for the Mittry Motorsports #2X team. The driver from the coastal city of Aromas was third the last time NARC was in Tulare during the Dennis Roth Classic last April. It is one of the few tracks on the schedule that Sanders has yet to win at with the tour, but that stat could easily change. 2021 and 2022 NARC champion Dominic Scelzi is excited to race with NARC for the first time in 2024. After spending the spring months on the East Coast and the Midwest, the Fresno wheelman has a trio of trips to the top of the Tulare podium, with his latest victory coming on May 13th, 2022, on the first night of the Peter Murphy Classic. Scelzi is the most recent victor of the Faria when he hit pay dirt in July of 2021. Roseville runner Justyn Cox can't wait to get back to the Thunderbowl. Last year, He captured the $18,383. payday at the Dennis Roth Classic for the Bates-Hamilton Racing #42X team, his first career NARC triumph. - CHIARAMONTE'S SPEED IMPRESSIVE AT MERCED - DEBUTS NEW CAR AT PERRIS ON SATURDAY
(El Cajon, CA, April 24) Always busy Braden Chiaramonte made the trek to the lightning-quick Merced Speedway last Saturday night for round #2 of the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour. The teen impressed his fellow competitors and fans by winning his heat, placing second in the dash, and running second early on in the main. Back in the Tiner/Hirst Enterprises Slade Precision Shocks/Larry Davis Farms/System 1 Pro Ignition/#94TH, Chiaramonte was the sixth fastest qualifier of 18 cars in Group B. The time placed the El Cajon, California resident on the outside of the front row in his 10-lap heat race. After a spirited battle early on, Chiaramonte scored a runaway victory for his first SCCT heat race win of the year. The young driver's prowess in the heat sent him to the six-lap dash. Things kept going the way of the driver known as "Spare Change" when he pulled the #1 spot. For fans unfamiliar with Chiaramonte who may have thought his heat race victory was a fluke, they were convinced he was the real deal after the dash. Starting on the outside of the front row against a field that included several veteran stars who had a lot more experience on the track than himself, he fought tooth and nail throughout the race. Running second, he was passed by one of Nor Cal's biggest stars. Not to be deterred, Chiaramonte awed the crowd when he ducked back underneath the driver one lap later, made the pass, and pulled away to sew up the outside front row starting spot for the 30 lap main. Chiaramonte flexed his muscles early on in the finale. Coming off turn two on the opening lap, a pair of drivers aggressively dove to the inside of the teen sensation. However, running the high line where he was so fast all night long, he easily beat them to turn three. He then set his sights on the leader and began to reel him in. At the end of the fourth circuit, he was 0.472 behind the race's front runner. By the time a yellow flag slowed the action five laps later, he had shaved the leader's advantage to 0.453. As soon as the race resumed, Chiaramonte continued to rip the top and was close behind the leader. However, coming off turn two on lap 11, he slid off the top of the track bringing out a yellow flag. Chiaramonte went to the work area where the Tiner/Hirst crew quickly changed the left rear tire and sent him back onto the battleground. For the restart, Chiaramonte was at the back in 23rd. However, he was not there for long. He immediately began picking off the competition and was all the way back up to 15th when the checkered flag brought the proceedings to a conclusion. It was not the outcome the young driver wanted, but his overall performance drew wide praise on social media after the race. "Second race of the year in the #360 SCCT," Chiaramonte reported to his Facebook fans. "Went out late in qualifying and the track was really slick but still went sixth quick. Started second in the heat and finished first. Pulled the #1 for the dash and finished second. I started second in the main, was running down the leader and made a mistake which cost me a good finish. Overall it was a good night. We have tons of speed, just need to put it all together. Thanks to everyone who helps." Heading into the third round of the SCCT season at Marysville on May 25th, Chiaramonte is 13th in the championship standings. Twenty-four hours earlier and 88 miles south of Merced, Chiaramonte ran his 600cc non wing Micro in the Jet Bowl Classic at the Lemoore Jet Bowl. In his first micro race of the year, the 17-year-old out qualified the 27 car field with a lap of 11.627. He followed that up by starting fourth and finishing second in his heat race. For the 30-lap main, he started sixth and slipped back to ninth. He then charged all the way up to second and was seventh when the checkered flag flew. . The Saturday, April 27th, Chiaramonte will return to Perris Auto Speedway for the first time since his March 16th crash on the famous Riverside County oval. That crash destroyed his car so he will be driving a brand new DRC Chassis with a powerful 410 engine purchased from Midwest racer Sterling Cling. At the February opener on the same track, he finished eighth. Spectator gates at Perris will open at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and the first race will take the green flag at 7:00. Adult tickets for the night of exciting dirt track racing action and clean family fun are $30.00. Seniors 65 and over get in for $25.00. For kids 6-12 it is only $5.00, and children 5 and under are admitted free. Advance tickets are available online at https://www.tix.com/ticket-sales/pas/7. They can also be ordered by phone at 1-800-595-4849. For fans who do not wish to purchase tickets in advance, there will be plenty available at the ticket window. The track is located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds at 18700 Lake Perris Drive in the City of Perris. The fairgrounds charge $10.00 for parking. - APRIL 27TH NARC SPRINT CAR SHOW AT STOCKTON POSTPONED UNTIL MAY 19TH
(4/18/24 - Jim Allen) Auburn, CA ... The Northern Auto Racing Club (NARC) sprint cars announced the postponement of the April 27th race scheduled at the Stockton Dirt Track. The race is rescheduled for Sunday, May 19th, as part of a two-day NARC sprint car doubleheader weekend that includes the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare (May 18th.) The Stockton event will become a twilight show with qualifying taking place around 4:00 p.m. Also on the card is BCRA midgets. Due to a tight turnaround time between other events taking place at the fairgrounds, promoter Tony Noceti is unable to complete the track improvements he promised after the NARC season opener. "After the April 6th show, I was provided with several suggestions on how to improve the new layout and I committed to getting those completed," said Noceti. "These will help promote better racing, improve safety, and a better overall flow to the event. I need all of them completed before we race again." The next event on the NARC schedule is the Chris & Brian Faria Memorial at the Tulare Thunderbowl on May 4th.
- BRADEN CHIARAMONTE'S RESULTS FROM THE ASPARAGUS CUP AT STOCKTON AND UPCOMING EVENTS
(El Cajon, CA, April 11) Rising Southern California star Braden Chiaramonte made the long trek north for last week's Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour "Asparagus Cup" at the newly configured Stockton Dirt Track. The young driver transferred directly from his heat race into the main event and finished 14th after having to restart at the back early in the going. Located east of San Francisco on the San Joaquin Fairgrounds, it was the first race on the track that was reconfigured from a half-mile to a quarter mile over the off-season. For Chiaramonte, who never raced on the half-mile, it was not his first race on the fairgrounds that is located 471 miles from his El Cajon, California home. Last June, he competed in a two-night Outlaw Micro 600 race at the Delta Speedway which is on the fairgrounds and only a few hundred feet from the dirt track. His best finish of the two nights was a fifth on June 22nd. Last week, the new track surface did present some challenges for the teams on hand starting with qualifying. Driving the well-known Tiner/Hirst Enterprises #94TH that is sponsored by Slade Precision Shocks/Larry Davis Farms/System 1 Pro Ignition, Chiaramonte timed in 11th fastest of the 16 cars in group B qualifying with a time of 14.809. Chiaramonte's first race of the night was the third heat. Eight cars lined up for the 10-lapper and only the top five would get an automatic ticket into the night's 30-lap main event. All he had to do was move up one spot to get a transfer to the main. That is exactly what he did but it was not without working hard as he was battling for position a majority of the race. By the time the finale rolled around, some portions of the track were taking on a lot of character. Especially turns three and four. Chiaramonte started 18th in the 24-car, 30 lapper, and nearly got bitten early in the race. A Talladega-style tangle in turn four that involved seven cars nearly blocked the entire track. It almost gathered Chiaramonte in. However, he alertly dove to the inside to narrowly escape the carnage that brought out a red flag. For the restart after the "Big One," Chiaramonte was 10th. However, on lap six two cars got together directly in front of the young star. With nowhere to go, he slid into them pushing the right-side nerf bar into the rear tire. That resulted in a trip to the work area where the Tiner/Hirst crew quickly straightened out the damage and sent him back out to battle. Starting at the back, Chiaramonte worked his way forward and at one point was up to 12th. When the checkered signaled an end to the rough and tumble affair, the young driver came home with a hard-fought 14th-place finish. "First wing race of the year is in the books and it was not a bad night," Chiaramonte told his Facebook followers a few days after the race. "Didn't qualify to good. Started sixth in the heat and finished fifth. Started 18th in the main and got up to 10th and two cars got together in front of me. Slid into them and the nerf bar was in the right rear tire. Got to the pits and they pulled it off. I went back and finished 14th. It was a good first night. I learned a lot and am ready for the next one." That next one was supposed to be at the Placerville Speedway on April 13th. However, like so many races in California early in the 2024 season, rain wiped that show out. This week Chiaramonte and the team will head north to Kevin Lockwood's racy Merced Speedway for the next round of the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour. In addition, the team is contemplating taking the micro along to race at the Delta Speedway in Stockton, which is 70-miles north of Merced, on Friday night. Spectator gates at Merced will open at 5:00 p.m. and the first green flag will fly at 7:00. The track is located at 900 Martin Luther King Drive in Merced, California. The website is http://www.mercedspeedway.net/ and the office phone number is (209) 383-7799. If things have not been busy enough, the team just rolled out its brand new DRC chassis to race with the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA 410 Sprint Car Series. They finished building the car on Saturday and tested it Sunday morning at Perris Auto Speedway. Chiaramonte would like to thank all his sponsors who have made his racing efforts possible. RTL Traffic Control, AM Ortega, Hyper Racing, Chop Design, Adams Motors, Hacienda Casa Blanca Fine Mexican Dining, Evil Plus Injection, King Racing Products, Tyner, and Keizer Wheels. - PETER MURPHY CLASSIC POSTPONED UNTIL JULY 20TH DUE TO BAD WEATHER
(4/11/24 - Jim Allen) Hanford, CA ... Mother Nature strikes again in California! The highly-anticipated Peter Murphy Classic at Kings Speedway has been postponed due to impending storms on the scheduled April 13th race date. But fear not racing fans, the $11,000 to win race, which features a $45,000+ overall purse, has been rescheduled for Saturday, July 20th. That marks 11-years to the day of Peter Murphy's violent sprint car accident at Antioch Speedway that almost ended his life. "We are all disappointed that we were unable to get this show in as planned," explained promoter and event namesake Peter Murphy. "However, after much thought and introspect, the new date in July has sentimental value to me. Not just the number 11, but the anniversary of my crash that changed my life and career forever." "My season wouldn't be a complete without this race," continued Murphy. "We are going to make it happen and I thank all of fans for their patience." Fans who have already purchased tickets will be able to redeem them at the July 20th event. This marks the third weather-related cancellation or postponement of the 2024 season for the NARC series. The next scheduled race is a return visit to the Stockton Dirt Track on April 27th.
- $11,000 TO WIN PETER MURPHY CLASSIC AWAITS NARC 410 SPRINT CAR SERIES ON SATURDAY
(4/8/24 - Ben Deatherage) Hanford, California ... A crown jewel of the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series schedule, the Peter Murphy Classic is on tap Saturday, April 13th, at Kings Speedway. The winner of the main event will collect a whopping $11,000 paycheck and etch their name on the prestigious winner's list of this famed event. The race pays homage to Kings Speedway promotor and longtime NARC competitor Peter Murphy. One of this events special features is a unique "pole shuffle" where two cars at a time will razzle and dazzle on the 3/8-mile clay oval to decide the main event's starting lineup of the front of the field. It is always a fan-pleaser. "I'm super excited to have this event come back to Kings," commented Murphy, a transplanted Australian and open wheel racing enthusiast. "Last year's pole shuffle was breathtakingly amazing, and the main event was a cracker, too, so come on out and bring a friend because Hanford is the place to be on Saturday night!" This will be the third round of the highly competitive 65th anniversary season of the NARC tour and the second five-digit payday for the main event winner. The companion division for the evening is the IMCA Stock Cars. Who to Watch Dominic Scelzi is looking to continue to reign supreme of the PMC. The Fresno driver has been on the road battling it out with the High Limit and World of Outlaw tour and is looking to come back to his native California and hit pay dirt. The 2021 and 2022 NARC champion is the three-time defending winner of the Peter Murphy Classic. NARC point leader Cole Macedo wants to take the $11,000 winner's check to the Tarlton Motorsports #21 shop. The Lemoore sensation bagged a $10,000 payday at the Mini Gold Cup in March and backed it up at the Stockton Dirt Track's Asparagus Cup last Saturday. Macedo has three top five finishes at Kings when NARC has been to town and was runner-up in the second main event of the Morrie Williams Memorial. Last October, Justin Sanders finally broke into victory lane at Hanford when he won the opening main event of the Morrie Williams Memorial. Once again piloting the Mittry Motorsports #2X, the Aromas driver has five podium finishes at the 3/8-mile oval and was fourth at last year's Classic. The last time NARC was on hand at Hanford, hometown driver D.J. Netto beat out the competition in the final feature of the Morrie Williams Memorial to score a big win for the team. Undoubtedly, the 2019 NARC champion is hungry to add the Peter Murphy Classic to his already decorated resume. Eighteen-year-old Dylan Bloomfield is a rising star in the NARC 410 Sprint Series. The Oakley driver has twice finished the Vertullo Racing #83V entry among the Top 10 at Kings and is looking to be among the podium finishers on Saturday night. He was 14th last year. Campbell's Bud Kaeding is looking to build off a top five finish last fall at Hanford. The 2017 NARC champ was fourth in the final race at King's in October 2023 and scored a victory at the facility on June 2nd, 2012. He was among the Top 10 at the 2022 Peter Murphy Classic when he posted a ninth-place result. Justyn Cox has been very close to conquering Kings twice. The Roseville racer was runner-up in the first feature of the Morrie Williams Memorial last October and did the same thing the previous year but in the second main event. Will the Bates-Hamilton Racing #42X slay the competition at the PMC? The large 2024 rookie class will also be on hand, including Caeden Steele from Easton, Lemoore's Gauge Garcia, Chico chauffeur Michael Ing, and Dominic Gorden of Clovis. Other teams looking for victory lane include Chase Johnson of Penngrove, Nick Parker from Chico, Benicia veteran Billy Aton, and Gilroy's Jarrett Soares. Some other notables to look forward to are Fremont's Shane Golobic, Hanford driver Michael Faccinto bout the F&F Racing #X1, and Templeton pilot Kaleb Montgomery. Fan & Competitor Info Kings Speedway is located at the San Joaquin County Fairground at 1658 S Airport Way in Stockton, California. Tickets are $30.00 for Adults, Juniors (5-17)/Seniors (65+)/Military (with ID) $25.00, Kids (6-10) $5.00, and 4 and Under are FREE. The Pit Gates will open at 1:00 PM and the Front Gates at 4:00. - Justin Sanders Clean Sweeps the Sprint Car Challenge Tour Opener With Dale Miller Motorsports
Back in November, Dale Miller Motorsports and Justin Sanders closed out the Sprint Car Challenge Tour season in victory lane at Stockton Dirt Track. Fast forward to Saturday night, and the duo returned to a reconfigured Stockton Dirt Track to open the SCCT season and didn't skip a beat as Sanders clean swept the night.
- COLE MACEDO SCORES NARC VICTORY AT ASPARAGUS CUP IN STOCKTON
(4/6/24 - By Ben Deatherage) Stockton, California … Cole Macedo has started the season on a hot streak, dominating the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series competition by leading all 28-laps of the curfew-shortened Asparagus Cup at the recently reconfigured Stockton Dirt Track. It was his second straight NARC victory driving the Tarlton & Son/Complete Parts and Equipment Solutions #21 Maxim for car owners Tom and Tommy Tarlton. It was also the first time he has scored in Stockton. "I'd rather be lucky than good any day as long as I get a check like this," commented an ecstatic Macedo in victory lane. "Luckily, Drew (Warner, crew chief) and the guys gave me such a good car." Starting on the outside front row, Macedo powered past polesitter D.J. Netto to lead the opening lap of the contest. Macedo had to deal with several caution periods throughout the feature, which put a lot of pressure on perfect restarts to stay ahead of the field. Twice, Macedo entered lapped traffic, and every time he seemed to get bottled up behind slower cars, he was blessed with a caution. Despite three restarts in the last half of the main event, Macedo ran his line and outlasted all challengers to win his third career NARC 410 Sprint Car Series victory. "I knew if I got off the bottom, I was probably going to get passed, and I kept hearing (Justin Sanders), but after a lap or two, I could get into a rhythm and get my gap," continued Macedo. "I was getting worried about those late-race restarts, and all it would take is me biking one time, and someone was going to get by me." The eighth starting Sanders rallied in the race's second half to earn the runner-up in the Farmer's Brewing Company/North County Plastering #2X Maxim. Tanner Carrick placed his California Waterfowl/TC Guide Service #83T Maxim, in third for his first NARC podium since 2022. Chase Johnson, who started tenth, battled fiercely to stay among the top five and managed to post a fourth-place result in the Toyota of Marin/Price Family Dealerships #24 Maxim. The Parker Automotive/MetalTec Fabrication #15 Maxim driven by Nick Parker posted a NARC career best fifth place finish. Kaleb Montgomery earned Williams Roofing Hardcharger honors after a 20th to sixth place run, while Bud Kaeding came back from an early race spin to end the night in seventh. Caeden Steele wound up the highest-finishing rookie in eighth. Ryan Bernal and Gauge Garcia rounded out the top ten. Colby Copeland, Shane Golobic, Dominic Gorden, and Landon Brooks went for red flag rides in the feature, but all walked away unharmed. Macedo was the fastest driver in ARP Qualifying. - Justin Sanders records clean sweep to open SCCT season in Stockton
Stockton, CA…Aromas driver Justin Sanders put together a perfect outing to snag the Sprint Car Challenge Tour season opener on Saturday at the Stockton Dirt Track's Asparagus Cup. Piloting the Dale Miller Septic No. 4sa Sanders earned the Sierra Foothills Wine Services Fast Time Award, won his heat race, captured the High Sierra Industries Dash, and raced to victory in the 30-lap SCCT finale. "It feels good to get another win here at Stockton for Dale Miller and to be the first winner on the new track is special as well," Sanders commented following the race. "I have to thank everybody that supports this 4sa car and hopefully we can go to victory lane a lot this season." Once in front after the opening circuit Sanders had his way with things during the main event, working lapped traffic like a magician at times. Several slowdowns plagued the contest, but the reigning winner of the Dirt Cup was calm, cool and collected in the lead. Fremont's Shane Golobic found speed late and moved into the second spot with just a couple of laps left. Sanders had already pulled away however and took the checkered flag for his ninth career triumph with the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour, tying Dominic Scelzi for second all-time. Golobic crossed the stripe in second, followed by Lincoln's Tanner Carrick, Oakley's Dylan Bloomfield and Oregon racer Tyler Thompson. The remainder of the top-10 was filled out by Chase Johnson, Austin Wood, Colby Copeland, Pit Stop USA Hard Charger Dustin Freitas and Mariah Ede. The night's Bmain was picked off by Isaiah Vasquez, while the Dash as noted went to Justin Sanders. Heat race wins went to Sanders, Bloomfield, Thompson and Colby Johnson. Sanders set the standard in qualifying with a lap of 14.225. The Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour returns to action on Saturday April 20th at the Merced Speedway. - COLE MACEDO SCORES NARC VICTORY AT ASPARAGUS CUP IN STOCKTON
Cole Macedo has started the season on a hot streak, dominating the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series competition by leading all 28-laps of the curfew-shortened Asparagus Cup at the recently reconfigured Stockton Dirt Track.

- BRADEN CHIARAMONTE RETURNS TO ACTION SATURDAY AT STOCKTON - LEAVES FOR TEXAS ON SUNDAY
(El Cajon, CA, April 4, 2024) After a couple of weeks off, things are about to get busy for teen racing star Braden Chiaramonte. This Saturday he heads north for the opening round of the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Series at the Asparagus Cup on the recently renovated Stockton Dirt Track. Sunday morning he plans to catch a flight back to So Cal and then drive straight to Texas for Monday's practice for the Third Annual TMS Micro Mania KKM Motorsports Challenge at Lil' Texas Motor Speedway. However, potential rainy weather in the "Lone Star State" may force postponement of the important outlaw micro race. If the schedule sounds busy, it was even busier until Thursday afternoon. Chiaramonte had planned on racing with the winged 360 sprint cars at Chico's Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night. However, the famous track was pummeled by rain on Thursday. Mother Nature's tear drops left the facility completely saturated. Combined with a sunless forecast and cold temperatures, there was no chance to get the facility dried out for Friday night and promoters were forced to pull the plug. Last week's rainout at Placerville means Saturday's race at Stockton will be the first of the year for the Sprint Car Challenge Tour. It will also be the first appearance at Stockton for Chiaramonte. While it will be his initial time at the facility, he will be on level footing with all of the other drivers as the track underwent a major renovation over the winter. Formerly a 4/10 of a mile track, the size has been reduced to a quarter mile with 9-degree banking in the turns. The reduction in size should make the racing much tighter and thus, more exciting for the fans. In addition, the racing surface has been brought closer to the grandstands giving spectators a much better view of the action. The plan as of now is for Chiaramonte to fly home early Sunday morning after Stockton. The team will then head out with their car for the Micro Mania in Texas. Practice is scheduled for Monday with preliminaries taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday. The finals are slated for Thursday. However, predictions of possible thunderstorms and rain starting late Monday afternoon and lasting until the early morning hours of Thursday are putting the event in jeopardy. A decision should be made on Friday on whether the race will take place next week or be moved to a date later in the year. Last season Chiaramonte shined at the Micro Mania race that is sanctioned by POWRi. Held in September, he dominated opening night by scoring a clean sweep being fastest in time trials, winning his heat, qualifier, and the main event. Going into the finale 24 hours later, he was the highest point driver of the 86 competitors on hand. That put him in the King of Texas Trophy Pool Shootout. The personable racer kept his perfect batting average intact when he started the night off by winning that short race to earn the right to start on the pole for the main. Chiaramonte led the first six laps before slipping to second. From there he hounded the eventual winner all the way to the checkered flag. Thus, in six events (including qualifying) over the two days, he had five wins and a single second place. On Saturday in Stockton, the gates will open at 5:00 p.m. and racing will begin at 6:00. Tickets for those aged 18-64 are $30.00. It is $25.00 for those from 5-17, seniors and military with i.d. It is free for kids 4 and under, and parking is free, too. The track is located on the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds at 1658 S. Airport Way in Stockton. The track's website is StocktonDirtTrack.com and the office phone is (916) 370-9417. For full details on next week's Micro Mania, please visit the event website at https://www.texasmotorspeedway.com/events/micro-mania/. Good news from the Chiaramonte team is the fact that it has purchased a 410 engine from Sterling Cling Racing. The bullet, which should arrive on Friday, replaces the one that was damaged in the crash at Perris Auto Speedway on March 16th. The engine will be installed and ready when the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Series races at Perris on April 27th. Clarksburg's Justyn Cox ultimately fended off Templeton's Kaleb Montgomery by four slim points to secure his initial SCCT title. Cox, who piloted the Bates-Hamilton Racing No. 42x, became the fourth driver to claim a Sprint Car Challenge Tour championship, joining Andy Forsberg, Ryan Robinson and Kyle Hirst. Despite coming up just short, both Montgomery and Oakley's Dylan Bloomfield made it an ultra-close fight right down to the end. Suisun City youngster Chance Grasty locked up the Garth Moore Insurance Rookie of the Year Award and finished fourth in the standings, while Clovis' Dominic Gorden completed the top-five. Dale Miller Racing captured their first SCCT owner championship last season in dominating fashion. Aromas wheel-man Justin Sanders piloted the car for much of the year and book ended the campaign by winning the opener in Placerville, along with the finale at Stockton. - Asparagus Cup awaits Sprint Car Challenge Tour Saturday in Stockton
After a rainout last weekend the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour is now ready to get the season started at the newly renovated Stockton Dirt Track this Saturday April 6th.
- NARC SPRINT CARS SET TO TACKLE ASPARAGUS CUP AT NEWLY CONFIGURED STOCKTON DIRT TRACK
(4/1/24 - Ben Deatherage) Stockton, CA ... The wait will soon be over as the highly anticipated reshaped Stockton Dirt Track is set to host the 900+ horsepower speed machines of the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series. The Saturday, April 6th show will feature the West Coast top teams as they negotiate a new ¼-mile clay oval at the 2024 Asparagus Cup. "Sprint car teams have been asking for a reconfiguration of our track to promote even better open-wheel racing," explained promoter Tony Noceti. "We worked hard over the winter to meet that demand, and I'm proud of what we have created at the Stockton Dirt Track. Race fans are going to be treated to an exciting bullring of sprint car racing action on our new quarter-mile oval." With the newly configured track, all of the traveling teams will have to start from scratch, negating years of research and volumes of track notes on car set-ups. That makes the Asparagus Cup a wide-open affair with no team having a distinct advantage. This marks the second round of the Northern Auto Racing Club's 65th-anniversary series, that has already experienced two rainouts this Spring. The companion division for the evening is the Sprint Car Challenge Tour 360 Sprints. Who to Watch Colby Copeland will make his 2024 debut with the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series on Saturday, driving the Larry Antaya-owned #16A entry. Copeland, from Roseville, is the defending winner of the Asparagus Cup, claiming top honors in April of 2022. The 2023 event was rained out. "I know there's a little different shape of a track, but we are hoping to get dialed in be at the front," commented Copeland, who hopes to continue the Asparagus Cup success. "It should be interesting, but the thing is that everyone will start on the same track and no one will have an advantage on anyone else. "It would be good to win again. The #16A car was fast at the Mini Gold Cup with (Ryan) Robinson and should be fast at Stockton." 2019 NARC champion D.J. Netto has visited the trademark winner's circle twice at Stockton in NARC action. Both were Salute to LeRoy Van Conett events, and his most recent Stockton victory was in July of 2022. Cole Macedo is the lone winner on the current NARC circuit, having earned $10,000 at Silver Dollar Speedway's Mini Gold Cup. The Lemoore driver, aboard the famed Tarlton Motorsports #21, is looking to capture his first Stockton victory. His best 410 finish was a 14th-place effort in November 2018 at the Tribute to Gary Patterson. Justin Sanders is no slouch at Stockton, as he had an incredible performance at the 2022 Tribute to GP to close out the NARC season with a victory. Behind the wheel of the Mittry Motorsports #2X, the Aromas driver is looking to open up his 2024 winning account on Saturday night. Other NARC 410 Series regulars competing for a NARC victory include the Bates-Hamilton Racing #42X driven by Clarksburg driver Justyn Cox, 2017 series champion Bud Kaeding of Campbell, Oakley pilot Dylan Bloomfield in the Vertullo #83V, Billy Aton from Benicia, Penngrove's Chase Johnson, Chico's Nick Parker, Jarrett Soares of Gilroy and many more. This includes the sizable NARC rookie class of 2024, which includes Easton's Caeden Steele, Gauge Garcia of Lemoore, Dominic Gorden from Clovis, and Chico native Michael Ing. Fan & Competitor Info The Stockton Dirt Track is located at the San Joaquin County Fairground at 1658 S Airport Way in Stockton, California. Tickets are $30.00 for Adults, Juniors (5-17)/Seniors (65+)/Military (with ID) $25.00, Kids (6-10) $5.00, and 4 and Under are FREE. Last season saw the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour have its closest championship battle in series history, with the top-three in points separated by just 11 markers following the Stockton finale. Dale Miller Racing also captured their first SCCT owner championship last season in dominating fashion. Aromas wheel-man Justin Sanders piloted the car for much of the year and book ended the campaign by winning the opener in Placerville, along with the finale at Stockton. Sanders has struck gold at the Spring Fever Frenzy each of the last two seasons. Former Spring Fever Frenzy winners, Andy Forsberg of Auburn and Tanner Carrick of Lincoln will both be favorites on Saturday. Forsberg has claimed nine career Placerville Speedway titles and earned his 200th career victory at the Tribute to Al Hinds this past season. Carrick was a winner on the red clay in July of last year and has shown the propensity to get around Placerville as well as anybody. Additional drivers looking to punch their ticket to victory lane at the Spring Fever Frenzy include Fremont's Shane Golobic, Hanford's Michael Faccinto, Modesto's Tony Gomes, Roseville's Colby Copeland and Sean Becker, Placerville's Shane Hopkins; Glendale, Arizona's Ashton Torgerson and many more. - NARC 410 SPRINT CARS SERIES SET TO INVADE MERCED SPEEDWAY ON SATURDAY!
(6/18/24 - Ben Deatherage) Merced, California ... The Central Valley is about to hear the roar of the 900+ horsepower powerplants of the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series on Saturday, March 23rd, when the tour returns to Merced Speedway! The high-banked ¼-mile clay oval will host the cars and stars of the NARC organization for the first time since August of 2021 and will be the lone visit to the facility in 2024. This marks the second stop on NARC's 65th Anniversary 25-race campaign, which is slated to visit 17-different dirt oval tracks in California, Oregon, and Washington. "I'm super excited to get to Merced," said Lemoore driver Cole Macedo, hot off a big win at the Mini-Gold Cup in the Tarlton Motorsports #21 sprint car. "I know (promoter) Doug Lockwood has put in a lot of effort to make that place what it is today. I think Drew Warner (crew chief) will give me a fast race car, and if I do my job, we should come out with a good finish." Macedo is the current NARC championship point leader after scoring his second NARC feature win of his career in Chico. Many of the NARC sprint cars stars will be competing on the action-packed bullring for the first time, including a strong class of rookie drivers. This year's rookie field includes Lemoore's Caeden Steele, who finished third in Chico, Fresno's Gauge Garcia, Dominic Gorden from Clovis, Chico's Michael Ing and Wilton's Ashlyn Rodriguez. Who to Watch Aromas' Justin Sanders, expected to be a strong challenger for the 2024 NARC title, will be looking to rebound after a crash took him out of contention in Chico. Sanders hit pay dirt in the series' last visit to the track in August 2021 and knows that a victory gets him right back into the title hunt. Shane Golobic, who finished second in the NARC season opener in Chico, is looking to put the Matt Wood Racing #17W car in NARC victory lane for the first time at Merced Speedway. Golobic placed fifth in 2021 and was 16th when the World Of Outlaws visited in March 2022. Bud Kaeding, who claimed the series title in 2017, still doesn't have a Merced victory on this impressive resume. He came across the line in sixth when NARC was in Merced last time. With a retro look for the #29 team, the Campbell racer is looking to check off Merced on his win list. Tim Kaeding, from San Jose, will no doubt wow the crowd in the famed Williams Motorsports #0 entry. The "Governor of Good Times" was fourth in the last NARC trip to Merced. Kaeding is hitting the NARC trail heavy this spring and the 2002 and 2011 series champion is hungry to revisit victory lane. He has 72 NARC victories to his credit. Chase Johnson of Penngrove has a lot of laps and wins at Merced in many different types of cars, but the pilot of the #24 has yet to win in the 410 ranks. Johnson was third in a USAC-CRA race in September of 2019 and is in search of his fourth career NARC win. Other NARC 410 Series stars expected to compete include Justyn Cox from Clarksburg, Oakley's Dylan Bloomfield, Billy Aton of Benicia, Gilroy 's Jarrett Soares, Kaleb Montgomery of Templeton, Michael Faccinto and DJ Netto from Hanford and many more! Fan & Competitor Info The companion divisions for the evening include the Hobby Stocks, Mini Late Models, and IMCA Northern SportMods. Merced Speedway is located at 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Merced, California. Tickets are $25.00 for Adults, Juniors (11-17) $10.00, Kids (6-10) $5.00, and 5 and Under are FREE. Pit Gates will open at 2:00 PM and the Front Gates at 5:00. Hot Laps are expected to begin around 6:00, with racing kicking off at 7:00. Additional information can be found at www.mercedspeedway.net. The NARC racing format includes qualifying, four eight-lap heat races, an exciting six-lap trophy dash, a 12-lap last chance race, and a 30-lap main event. - $10,000 ON THE LINE FOR NARC MINI-GOLD CUP WINNER AT CHICO ON SATURDAY
(3/11/24 - Ben Deatherage) Chico, CA ... The NARC 410 Sprint Car Series is excited to lift the lid on its 65th competitive season on Saturday, March 16th, at Silver Dollar Speedway! The historic Chico ¼-mile clay oval hosts the opening leg of the 2024 campaign and will have $10,000 on the line to the driver that bests the field of the Mini Gold Cup main event. After last weekend's rainout at Hanford, this marks the first of 25 premier racing events that will invade 17-different dirt oval tracks in California, Oregon, and Washington. "This is going to be such a great event at this place, and it's great to have NARC back to Chico," commented Silver Dollar Speedway General Manager and Announcer Troy Hennig. "We've done some really wonderful things here over the offseason, and I think fans and drivers are going to like it, especially the brand-new catch fence." With defending champion Corey Day moving to the national touring High Limit Series and two-time champ Dominic Scelzi touring around the country this Spring, the battle for the prestigious NARC championship is expected to be a wide open and highly-contested affair. The addition of several new up and coming drivers and teams promise to make it even more interesting. Who to Watch Justin Sanders, from Aromas, has amassed two of his series triumphs at Silver Dollar, achieved in 2019 and 2021. The Mittry Motorsports #2X pilot was runner-up at the April 30th show in 2022. Both Chico events were rained out last season. Sanders, a 15-time winner on the NARC circuit, is expected to be a top contender for the NARC championship this season. Justyn Cox made it to Silver Dollar Speedway just a handful of times in 2023 but did manage to put the Bates-Hamilton Racing #42X in the main events during the Gold Cup Race of Champions. Cox posted 15 top ten NARC finishes last year including a huge victory at Tulare and will be a nightly force to be reckoned with. Lemoore's Cole Macedo and Bud Kaeding of Campbell are also expected to be battling for the title this season. Both have ample experience to make that happen. Macedo, who has won several races around the country, captured his first NARC feature event last season and Kaeding was the 2017 NARC series champion. Kaeding has 21 series wins to his credit. There's no doubt that the biggest target on anyone's back is Shane Golobic. The Fremont chauffeur, piloting the Matt Wood Racing #17W, is the most recent non-sanctioned 410 feature winner at SDS when he won the fair race on May 28th. The last time the facility was in action, he scored the victory on the final night of the 360 Fall Nationals last October. Many young Central Valley competitors are expected to be in the field, including Lemoore's Gauge Garcia, Dominic Gordon from Clovis, 2019 NARC champion D.J. Netto from Hanford, and Caeden Steele of Fresno. Other competitors include Penngrove driver Chase Johnson, Oakley pilot Dylan Bloomfield, Jarrett Soares of Gilroy, Benicia's Billy Aton, reigning Rookie of the Year Nick Parker from Tucson, Tim Kaeding of San Jose, Chico's Michael Ing, Ashlyn Rodriguez of Wilton, Lincoln's Tanner Carrick, Kaleb Montgomery of Templeton, Auburn's Andy Forsberg, and many more. Fan & Competitor Info Silver Dollar Speedway is located at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds at 2357 Fair Street in Chico, California. Tickets can be purchased online at silverdollar.ticketspice.com.
